FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Here are some of the most frequently asked questions clients have had before their photoshoot. If you don't see the information you're looking for here, please feel free to reach out to me and I can answer any questions you may have!

  • WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO MY SHOOT?
I will always connect with you prior to your shoot to discuss wardrobe options and give recommendations on what clothing would work best for you, but here are some general tips and guidlines to consider. When it comes to picking clothes for ACTOR HEADSHOTS there are four main things to keep in mind: KEEP IT SIMPLE. We don’t want any distractions from your face, so it’s best to avoid busy patterns and logos or flashy accessories. You can’t go wrong with neutral, solid colours. Bonus points if your shirt compliments your eyes! DRESS FOR THE PART YOU WANT. Remember that your outfits are meant to help show what characters you can play. It’s wise to go for looks that represent characters you are likely to audition for. So know your hit and dress for it! BAGGY IS BAD. Casting directors want to get a sense of your body type, so avoid baggy or loose clothing. Form fitting tops are your friend. They don’t need to be skin tight, but they do need to give an idea of what your body looks like. PREP AND PRESS. Preparation is key. Make sure your wardrobe is clean and ironed when you arrive, and bring everything on hangars. There’s nothing worse than having the perfect headshot ruined by a wrinkled shirt! For BUSINESS HEADSHOTS, many of the same rules apply. You will want to bring simple, pressed outfits that best represent you and your brand or business. Because every PORTRAIT shoot has different wardrobe requirements, we will discuss the concept and vision in depth ahead of time so you can arrive to the session feeling fully prepared. Above all else, the most important thing to remember is to MAKE SURE YOU BRING CLOTHES THAT YOU FEEL GREAT IN. Clothes have an amazing power to effect the way we feel and carry ourselves, and that will come through in your photos. So IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT, DON'T BRING IT.
  • IS A MAKEUP ARTIST REQUIRED FOR HEADSHOTS?
The most important thing to remember is that your headshot needs to look like you - the way you're going to look when you walk into the audition room. So with that in mind, I prefer that my clients do their own hair and makeup to keep their look as authentic to them as possible. I realize that this might make some people a little nervous, but the reality is that a lot can be done with retouching if needed, and it will serve you much more to have headshots that represent what you actually look like. Clients are asked to show up to their sessions camera ready, and to bring any product they may need for touchups. Most men don't require makeup, but you are free to bring some powder if you'd like. We can go over any questions you have regarding makeup, or anything else, prior to the shoot.
  • CAN I SHAVE DURING MY SESSION?
Absolutely. You can come in with your facial hair at whatever length you'd like, and then shave or trim it down once we've got that look covered. However, I strongly recommend that you bring some moisturizer and powder to help with aggravated skin.
  • WHAT CAN I EXPECT AFTER MY SHOOT?
You will receive a link to your personal online gallery with all of the useable images from our session within 48 hours of the shoot. From there, you can go through the photos at your convenience and make your selections for retouching. You can also feel free to reach out to me at any point if you'd like some input or advice on which images to choose. Once you've given me your choices, you will receive your fully retouched photos within 7 days. Retouching includes colour correction, blemish and stray hair removal, eye brightening and sharpening, skin smoothing, and teeth brightening. Any additional retouches not included in your package are $50 each.
  • CAN I SHARE MY PHOTOS ON SOCIAL MEDIA?
Absolutely! I simply ask that you don't post any unedited photos, only the retouched finals. Also, please avoid using any kind of filters or edits of your own when posting, as the images represent my professional work. • DO YOU ONLY SHOOT INDIVIDUALS?
Nope! I love shooting people in groups of all sizes. So whether you're looking for a couple's shoot, a family portrait, or promotional photos for your band, I'm here to help. Send me an email with the details of the type of shoot you're looking for, and I will get back to you as soon as possible with a quote that suits your needs.
